Hi there and welcome to my personal finance blog! I started Mind Smart Money to help myself and others get into the money mindset; aka get rich! 😉
Why I’m really doing this:
I wanna retire
I’m a wannabe retiree 🙂 in my late 20s. I’ve got a stable income from my day job, but I want financial freedom. Its about the freedom to take risks and not have to worry about financial stability.
Demystify money & success
Besides financial freedom, I want to demystify what it takes to live a good life. There are so many blogs and news sites that talk about money and success, but they make it seem either mysterious or complicated. Do I need to save money or risk it all and follow my passion? How can I make my Instagram my real life 😉 ? I want this blog to simplify things.
A little back story…
I grew up in a working class family where money was always tight. While I had the basics, there was little to no room for something to go wrong. If anything broke, don’t expect a replacement! I was always living on the financial edge and I hated it. I would have loved to have a money cushion, a safety net, so that I could take risks! Instead I had to play it safe. Education, so I was told, was the the guaranteed way to riches. So I took this to heart and excelled at school. In fact, I went to top schools for both high school and college. Soon I realized that while education is a ticket out of poverty, that alone won’t excel you to financial security.
Once you have an education, success becomes a game of risk. There are thousands of smart people who are living on the financial edge. On the outside, things look well placed and in order. But on the inside, there is a desire to do and be more. The question is how?
What you’ll learn here
Now that I’ve safely made it to middle income and am no longer struggling financially, I’m learning about what it takes to build a rich life. I’m learning about how to make money work for me, instead of the other way around. I am moving towards financial freedom. I have a lofty goal of being able to retire in just 5 yrs. 🙂
To do that, I’m adhering to a philosophy that I call the rich mindset. This blog will focus on three concepts in order to achieve wealth and success:
